Roller bearings

Large-sized bearings

Single-row cross roller bearing

Description

In the case of this bearing, the rollers are alternately used to support loads in both directions. Rollers with a logarithmic profile are used to reduce peak pressures at the ends of each roller. Cross-roller bearings have a higher dynamic capacity than slewing rings of similar ball weight, but they are more sensitive to flatness errors of the bearing surfaces as well as to the lack of structural stiffness consistency. In addition, rollers are less well suited to applications with almost stationary or vibratory operating conditions, and in particular those that produce axial micro-slippage. Roller bearings have a tendency to be used in applications such as precision robots, radar antennas, water treatment, etc.

Three-Row Roller Bearing

Descripción

Large 3-row roller bearings feature two pure axial rows and one pure radial row, all of which contain logarithmic profile rollers. For a given track diameter, the three-row roller design offers the best capacity/weight ratio. In addition, its improved load transmission makes it suitable for applications with very large loads or weight limitations on the structure. It is most commonly applied in blade bearings in larger wind turbines, large cranes (tower or mobile), tunnel boring machines, mining equipment, etc.
